Programme Description

  • specialisation: Development Economics

Master's Programme in Development Economics (MADE) is a graduate programme which aims to provide necessary foundations in economics and policy design to future development specialists and advisors in international and governmental development agencies as well as non-governmental organisations. MADE opens each year with altogether 50 places for international and domestic students, while the best candidates (16%) may receive a tuition waiver. English is the sole language of instruction as both students and lecturers make up an international environment. The programme adheres to the strictest academic standards and leads to the degree of magister, corresponding to Master of Arts.

Development Economics programme is dedicated to people who wish to get involved in issues related to creating the foundations for a stable and sustainable economic growth in developing countries. Studies are prepared for candidates from all over the world, with particular attention to applicants from countries of the Global South.

  • specialisation: International Economics

A master's degree in International Economics is an increasingly essential degree in the global economy. The Program offers cutting-edge knowledge and skills in the field of international economics and is the best master's in international economics in Central and Eastern Europe. The Program places emphasis on in-depth knowledge of analytical tools and empirical research techniques, aiming at producing top-class economic analysts. Through the study of the diverse forces that are shaping the global economy and its institutions, the M.A. Program in International Economics equips its graduates to function effectively in a rapidly changing world. The selection of courses aims at providing students with solid bases of economics at advanced level and making them familiar with the latest issues and instruments related to international economics used in scientific research, business and international institutions. The structure of the Program allows for linking the compulsory subjects at the first year with selected specialized subjects at the second year of studies. First year students are required to complete advanced courses on theory of economics including advanced macro- and microeconomics, macro- and microeconometrics, mathematical methods as well as courses which constitute introduction to specializations which include monetary economics, international migrations and theory of international trade. During the second year of studies each student follows an individual course of studies by selecting specialized classes. A strong emphasis on the ability to use analytic instruments for solving real problems in practice and implementing new solutions stimulates creativity and prepares students for challenges they will face at further stages of their professional career.
